Benefits of continuous insulation and lack of thermal bridging explained as critical to meeting ASHRAE 90.1 requirements.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — AltusGroup, a North American network of 16 precast concrete manufacturers, has issued a technical brief outlining how its CarbonCast Enclosure Systems mitigate heat transfer and energy loss. The five-page brief explains how CarbonCast provides superior performance over conventional precast concrete wall panels through the use of C-GRID carbon fiber grid shear truss connectors.
The technical brief details how wythe connectors and insulation work together to provide thermal efficiency and continuous insulation (c.i.) to meet ASHRAE 90.1 requirements. Drawings and manufacturing photos illustrate how CarbonCast products are designed and manufactured to provide outstanding thermal performance.
The last section of the technical brief includes actual thermographic measurements of installed exterior walls taken with thermal imaging cameras to show the effectiveness of the CarbonCast Enclosure Systems in eliminating unwanted heat transfer.
AltusGroup precast concrete manufacturers have installed more than 28 million square feet of CarbonCast wall and deck surface area on over 700 structures since introducing the technology in 2004.
