Benefits of precast concrete for data center construction explained in new tech brief

September 19, 2018

GREENVILLE, S.C. — AltusGroup, a North American network of 19 precast concrete manufacturers, has issued a technical brief outlining the benefits of using precast concrete in data center construction. Available as a PDF on the AltusGroup website, the two-page brief explains how using CarbonCast High Performance Insulated Wall Panels in data center construction improves resiliency and energy efficiency in these buildings.

The technical brief details how precast insulated wall panels protect against weather and fire, and can limit vibrations from sound. Additionally, precast panels allow room for easy and flexible expansion, an important factor as the need for servers continues to grow. The lighter weight of CarbonCast wall panels can reduce foundation and superstructure needs of the building, potentially lowering costs.

The last section of the technical brief includes comparisons of the strength and quality of precast panels compared to tilt-up panels. Additionally, it discusses the benefits of precast panels, including the time and money saved.
