Sixth precaster to join in last 21 months, brings total to all-time high of 19 precasters; Armtec becomes second Canadian precaster in group
BETHLEHEM, Pa. (December 9, 2014) —Armtec Infrastructure Inc.(“Armtec”, armtec.com), a leading Canadian manufacturer of infrastructure products and engineered construction solutions , has joined AltusGroup to manufacture and market CarbonCast Enclosure Systems in Canada and select areas within the United States.
Armtec is the sixth precast manufacturer to join AltusGroup in the past 21 months, bringing the total number of North American precasters in the organization to 19. Armtec’s addition to AltusGroup marks the largest two-year expansion of the organization since the five founding members formed the company in 2003.
Armtec will manufacture CarbonCast High Performance Insulated Wall Panels and CarbonCast Insulated Architectural Cladding from its facilities in Richmond, B.C.; Calgary, Alb., Brampton, Ont.; and St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que. The CarbonCast portfolio of products use C-GRID carbon fiber grid as a shear connector to provide outstanding thermal efficiency, continuous insulation and full composite action to exterior walls while maintaining the remarkable aesthetic flexibility of precast concrete.
Armtec is a manufacturer and marketer of a comprehensive range of infrastructure products and engineered construction solutions for customers in a diverse cross-section of industries that are located in every region of Canada, as well as in selected markets globally. These markets include Canada’s national and regional public infrastructure markets and private sector markets in agricultural drainage, commercial building, residential construction and natural resources. Armtec operates through a network of offices and production facilities across the country. Armtec operates in two business units: Drainage Solutions and Precast Concrete Solutions. Drainage manufactures and markets corrugated high density polyethylene pipe, corrugated steel pipe and other drainage related products including small bridge structures. Precast manufactures and markets highly engineered precast systems such as parking garages, bridges, sport venues and building envelopes as well as standard precast products such as steps, paving stones and utility vaults.
“Bringing another major Canadian precaster into our ranks widens the availability of CarbonCast in a precast-friendly market area and further validates the superiority of our technology over competitive alternative connectors and wall systems,” said John Carson, Executive Director of AltusGroup. “Our unprecedented growth in membership during the past 21 months is testament to the co-opetition concept of AltusGroup and the demonstrated performance and economics of the CarbonCast system, coupled with our ability to work together to bring precast innovation to the market quickly and confidently. We offer not just an economical product, but a complete marketing and manufacturing approach to energy efficient wall construction.”
Dennis Lattimore, Armtec’s President, Precast Concrete Solutions, said that he is excited to be the newest addition to the AltusGroup network and have his extensive Canadian manufacturing and sales teams bring a new dimension of innovation and precast technology into the marketplace.
Between AltusGroup’s two Canadian precasters (Strescon Limited joined the group in early 2014), CarbonCast is now available from six different plant locations from Newfoundland to British Columbia.
AltusGroup precast concrete manufacturers have installed more than 30 million square feet of CarbonCast surface area on over 700 structures since introducing the technology in 2004. The trend for thermal and energy efficient enclosures is anticipated to continue into the foreseeable future.
