CarbonCast Enclosure Systems score big at Super Bowl XLVI venue
Most everyone knows that the New York Giants and New England Patriots will compete on the turf of Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Ind., in Super Bowl XLVI on February 5.
But, did you also know the $675 million facility uses CarbonCast® High Performance Insulated Wall Panels by AltusGroup, a national partnership of 14 precast concrete manufacturers dedicated to innovation?
In fact, the project required nearly 400,000 sq. ft. of CarbonCast High Performance Insulated Wall Panels comprised of 3” inner and outer concrete wythes sandwiching 2” of EPS insulation with C-GRID® carbon fiber grid shear reinforcement. C-GRID is five times the tensile strength of steel with relatively low thermal conductivity allowing fully composite structural performance and negligible thermal conductivity. Panels are limestone-finished and feature blasted accents and embedded brick.
CarbonCast High Performance Insulated Wall Panels were fabricated off-site in a controlled factory environment and delivered for immediate erection by Gate Precast Company, Winchester, Ky., and High Concrete Group LLC at its Springboro, Ohio plant. This eliminated concerns for material and equipment storage, weather delays and other setbacks to expedite the construction schedule.
The structure was awarded “Best of 2008” by Midwest Construction after its completion in August 2008.
