CarbonCast Double Tees competed for award at COMPOSITES 2012

More than 40 companies entered their latest innovations to compete in this year’s Awards for Composites Excellence (ACE) and Pinnacle Awards (for the cast polymer industry) hosted by ACMA and presented at COMPOSITES 2012, February 21-23.

CarbonCast Double Tees, People's Choice Award, COMPOSITES 2012 CarbonCast Double Tees that weigh less and are non-corrosive for better sustainability were one of the candidates in the “Market Growth Category-Composites Sustainability” in the new People’s Choice Awards. The technology was entered by Chomarat North America, supplier of C-GRID.

CarbonCast Double Tees use a 1/2″ less concrete cover in their flanges than conventional precast reducing weight up to 8 percent, or 6 lbs./sq. ft., for lower embodied energy and associated greenhouse gas emissions. They’re also manufactured with non-corrosive C-GRID® carbon fiber grid reinforcing eliminating the need for epoxy or sacrificial barrier coatings, corrosion-inhibiting admixtures and sealers. And, calculations based on ICC codes and accepted design criteria prove 4-3⁄4″ thick flanges can provide a two-hour fire rating to meet ASTM E119 requirements.

COMPOSITES, produced annually by ACMA, is the industry’s premier exhibition and convention. Visit their site to learn more or review a full list of this year’s winners.
